  • America East Cites UAlbany Prof for Work in Africa

    Dr. Robert L. Miller of the School of Social Welfare The NCAA Division I America East Conference, whose membership includes 18 of the University at Albany's varsity sports, has honored a UAlbany School of Social Welfare associate professor as "an ideal representative from the University at Albany for Black History Month."



  • UAlbany Announces New Athletic Field Complex Site

    The new upgraded track & field venue, scheduled for winter 2013 completion UAlbany President George Philip announced on Feb. 15 the official site of the University’s new $24 million athletic and recreational complex and kicked off a $6 million private campaign to support the project. A $1 million gift from an anonymous donor was presented, with a promise to match further project donations up to $1 million.



  • UAlbany Using New Dell Tools to Model RNA

    The RNA Institute's high-end computational computer lab The RNA Institute and Dell are making state-of-the-art computational equipment available to model RNA for drug discovery and design. The high-end computer equipment affords researchers greater speed and precision to challenge afflictions like breast and colon cancer, neuromuscular disease, drug resistant infections, and tuberculosis.

    The University at Albany Foundation logo ALBANY, N.Y. (February 9, 2012) -- The University at Albany Foundation has named businessman and philanthropists I. Norman and Micki Massry and University at Albany’s School of Social Welfare Dean Katharine Briar-Lawson recipients of the 2012 Citizen Laureate Awards.

     



  • Probing a Link from Sahara Dust to Climate Change

    Qilong Min, Ph.D., Senior Research Associate and Professor at ASRC Qilong Min, Ph.D, of UAlbany's ASRC, is developing innovative ways to measure how dust in the Sahara Desert can change clouds in the tropical Atlantic, the Caribbean region and Europe. This research will help scientists find better ways to estimate the impact dust has on climate change.

    MSNBC Political Commentator Jeff Johnson ALBANY, N.Y.  (Feb. 1, 2012) – Television journalist and political commentator Jeff Johnson will discuss Unclaimed Legacy: Who Will Lead the Next Social Movement? at the University at Albany’s 33rd annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Black History Month Luncheon at noon on Wednesday, February 8, in the Campus Center Ballroom.
